LIVING TRANQUILLE: The Tranquille Master Planned Community is moving forward

The leadership of Ignition’s management team and substantial due diligence expenditure over the past three years has placed the Tranquille lands on track to become home to a vibrant, new and sustainable community. Thirty-five long years after the Provincial Government closed and walked away from the Tranquille mental health facility, the site is poised to be redeveloped as a walkable, inclusive, and family friendly lake shore neighbourhood.

Led by Ekistics, a Vancouver based world class urban planning company, and a team of talented professionals, the Tranquille Master Planned Community has been re-imagined as an amenity rich, Agrihood surrounded by Kamloops Lake and the Thompson River to the South, a renowned bird sanctuary to the East, and the rich biodiversity of the 157 square kilometer Lac du Bois Provincial Park to the North and West.

Tranquille will be anchored along a vibrant waterfront featuring an extensive and accessible pathway system, a boutique lake front Inn, restaurant and pub-boat launch with day docks, and a municipal park fronting Cooney Bay. In addition, a mixed-use, professionally managed farm comprised of vineyards, orchards, vegetable and flower gardens, and regenerative pasture lands will complete the frame around the resident’s homes.

The community experience includes a stunning winery, community centre, subsidized community daycare, a variety of shops offering convenience services, and a farmers market. Each will compliment the tapestry of LIVING TRANQUILLE.

Set against the backdrop of Tranquille’s majestic natural assets the Tranquille River shoreline is planned to become home to a wild salmon conservation program supported by an onsite interpretive center. The latter will celebrate Tranquille’s cultural heritage and provide educational opportunities for all ages to understand the role the South Thompson River watershed had in shaping the lives of those who have come before.
